[Seoul, Myungdong/Myeongdong] Myungdong Gyoza - Myungdong Kalguksu (Myungdong Noodles House)

This restaurant is often on many tourists' eat lists when they go to Seoul. It opened in 1966 and has been serving hot noodle soups and mandu (steamed Korean dumplings) ever since.

It appears in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese guidebooks. I am also sure it appears in English guidebooks, too, but I have never seen an English speaker whip out a guidebook at the table.

Expect a line if you go at peak hours.

This place is CASH ONLY and is pre-pay!!!

[Seoul, Sinsa, Garosugil] Deux Amis (Homemade French Cakes and Tartes)

If you haven't been to the Garosugil area in Seoul, you should check it out!
It's in Sinsa and is a great area for café hopping, shopping, people watching, and possibly seeing some stars.

If you just walk around the area, you are bound to find a large number of great cafes! That is what my friend and I did when we stumbled upon Deux Amis.

Deux Amis is a café that bakes its own French tarts and cakes every day.

[Jeonju, Hanok Village, Korea] Gyodong Dduk Galbi

If you're in Seoul and want to escape city life for the day, I highly recommend going to Jeonju. It is about four hours from Seoul Express Bus Terminal.

Once you're in Jeonju, you can either take the city bus or a taxi to the Hanok (Traditional Korean) Village. The taxi will cost about 4,000KRW.

While most tourbooks recommend you get Jeonju bibimbap, I would recommend skipping this. You can buy Jeonju bibimbap in Seoul and all around the country. I highly recommend you try is ddukgalbi instead. There are two great options in the Hanok Village. The one I will introduce today is Gyodong Dduk Galbi. I mentioned this in my itinerary that I made for my parents.

[Minneapolis, MN] Target Field - Town Ball Tavern (Minnesota Twins Stadium)

Recently, I went to Minneapolis, Minnesota for a Minnesota Twins game (Minnesota's professional baseball team) at Target Field (gotta love corporate sponsorship).

I actually went because they were giving away the Snoopy All-Star Game figurine (pictured above). Minnesota/Minneapolis is actually hosting the All-Star Game this year, so there are a ton of giveaways to promote it.

The day we went it was quite rainy (there was a considerable rain delay, in fact). So, we went to the Town Ball Tavern Tavern, a full-service restaurant and bar, on the second level of Target Field. If you have dietary concerns or restrictions, for example gluten-free or vegetarian, this is probably one of the best places for you to go since there is a very extensive menu that is clearly labeled and as real people food, not just like nachos and cheese or vegetable sticks for you to eat.

[NYC, Chinatown] Chinatown Ice Cream Factory

Some of the best Asian-flavor ice cream in New York City! Make sure to get a sample of any flavor you are curious about!

The Chinatown Ice Cream Factory is a great place to go after meals or various tourist activities (ie. shopping in SoHo, walking the Manhattan Bridge, taking a longer walk after the Brooklyn Bridge). Expect a bit of a wait, but it'll definitely be worth it.

It is CASH ONLY!

[San Francisco, CA Cafe] Elite Audio Coffee Bar - Elite latte art.

This was the perfect combination of my favorite things - coffee, latte art, and minions!
I found this café while I was looking for coffee shops near my hotels (I was staying at the Courtyard Marriott in the Financial District and The Mosser Hotel near Union Square).
I even had my Minion phone case. The little guys were with me to celebrate the opportunity to be drawn on my latte.

What would you request for your latte art?

[San Francisco, CA] Katana-Ya - Michelin recommended ramen near Union Squre

I just returned from a quick trip to San Francisco.
I decided to stay a couple extra days to get a sense of the area since I've never lived on the West Coast.

I was staying at a hotel near Union Square (to be posted later).

My friend recommended that I check out Katana-Ya for ramen. Oddly enough, it was already on my eat list, I realized. It's also Michelin recommended, if that matters to you at all.
