Japan's Doutor Coffee (株式会社ドトールコーヒー) is now expanding its operations into Korea and Taiwan.
I found this Cafe Au Lait at my local GS25 convenience store.
I was kind of excited to try it because, as some of you may know, I used to live/work in Japan at the WHO for a bit.
During my time living in Japan, Doutor was the coffee shop where I wanted to spend my time/money (I'm kind of anti-Starbucks).
I didn't have high hopes for this coffee, since it's prepackaged coffee from a convenience store. It was, however, pretty ok? Unlike many of the Korean brands, it was not quite as sweet. It was VERY milky though. I did expect it to be somewhat milky since it's "au lait" or whatnot, but it was very, very milky.
However, unlike many of the can coffees and other prepackaged Korean brand coffees you can pick up at the convenience store, I was actually able to taste the coffee flavor, even through the strong milk flavors.
As you can see on the packaging, the Doutor coffees are ONLY available at GS Retail Stores (so, this includes the GS Supermarkets).
I bought it on promotion, so I think the cost ended up being only 1,000 KRW. Honestly, I was a little sleepy when I bought it because this was on my way to work, so I'm a little foggy on the details.
There are other flavors available, too.
I guess I would recommend it if you want to try something different.
