[Snack Attack - Korea] Daiso Snack Haul

If you're traveling to Korea or living in Korea, you have to check out Daiso. Daiso is a Japanese dollar store that literally sells everything you could ever want and stuff you never knew you wanted.

I took my mom there when she visited because she wanted to pick up some token gifts/souvenirs from Korea.

If you go to a Daiso in more tourist-y areas like Myeongdong, the selection is different than if you go to one in a more residential neighborhood. So, my mom went into the one by Sadang since it's near my house, so they didn't really have the kitschy stereotypical Korean stuff to buy (like hanbok toys, Korean fans, etc.), but she was more interested in buying unique snacks there.

So, she ended up choosing some of Pepero flavors that are hard to find in America. She got the Coconut Chocolate, Cookies and Cream, and the Double Dip Strawberry and Cream. I believe all were only 1000KRW, which is pretty cheap for Pepero.

She also got instant mix coffees in Mocha Latte, Caramel Macchiato, and Vanilla Cappuccino. Korea is kind of famous for mix coffees and if you're living in Korea, it's definitely a part of your everyday life. They come in sticks, so you can use them on the go and you don't have to worry about people contaminating the large containers of coffee mix. They are kind of wasteful, but they would make a cute gift/souvenir for an officemate who likes to go to Starbucks every day.

I also usually stopped in my local Daiso to feed my chips habit. The chips are usually 1000 KRW and for a large bag that generally goes for like 2000 KRW in the mart.

HINT: If you want to stock up on Honey Butter Chips, don't get price gouged by buying them at stores in Myeongdong, just stop by a Daiso in a neighborhood by your hotel/hostel/Airbnb and look at the chips section. They're usually stocked pretty well with Honey Butter Chips, especially now since they're not a fad anymore, and you only have to pay 1000 KRW for the medium bag and about 2000 KRW for the large bag.
