[Snack Attack - Japan] Haagen Dazs Walnut Mochi Ice Cream - Japanese mochi ice cream

I tried the new flavor of Haagen Dazs ice cream in Japan - walnut black sesame mochi. :)

I knew I really wanted to try the mochi ice creams and..apparently everyone else did, too. It was so hard to find one!

We finally found two of these at a 7Eleven store. I can't remember the exact price, but I'm pretty sure it was between 200-300 JPY, sorry to fail you.

Let me start by saying, Japan has the perfect sizes of ice cream containers. While it is wasteful to have to throw away all these little cups all the time, it lets you try so many different flavors and also eat the perfect amount of ice cream.
I love black sesame mochi, so I was sooo happy to find this one! However, I am not a huge fan of walnuts...

When you first open the ice cream it's so beautiful and untouched.

Sadly, you have to ruin it.

So, the mochi is in the first layer only and it's kind of a relatively thin layer.

Also, as you see, as you begin mixing it to get all the flavors together it begins to look kind of not photogenic, so I'll quit posting pictures of it.

But, believe me the flavor is wonderful. Remember how I said I don't really like walnut that much? The walnut flavor is there, just not very strong. It's also sweet without being super duper sweet, which balances the walnut flavor.

Have you tried any of the other mochi ice creams in Japan?
