[Singapore] 5footway.inn Project Boat Quay Hostel - Private Twin Room Review

Finally posting the promised review of 5footway.inn Project Boat Quay. We stayed in the private double room.

Check back tomorrow for my post of the night views and day views from 5footway.inn Project Boat Quay :) This is a preview of tomorrow's post!

Although we were on a budget, we were hoping for a relaxing trip to Singapore. So, even though the twin room was slightly more expensive, it was TOTALLY worth it. We still had to share the bathroom/shower facilities with the other ladies staying at the hostel (there's a separate facilities for males).

One thing to note! Make sure you bring 20SGD in CASH for check-in! They require it to be paid with TWO 10SGD bills. It will be returned to you upon check out.

If you do check in early, there is a luggage room next to the reception where you can store your luggage. I stored my bag there since I arrived so early in the morning, before my friend arrived, and had plans to meet my grad school friend during the day.

The room averaged 30SGD per bed, so 60SGD per night for the private twin, shared bathroom when we booked, but obviously the room rate may fluctuate by season, etc. (60SGD = about 45 USD).

Overall, it wasn't dirty. I am always quite hesitant staying in hostels because I've heard horror stories, but so far, I've been quite lucky. There's a rule that doesn't allow snacks in the rooms, which probably...no definitely helps to keep the bugs at bay. Even though Singapore is SUPER humid, I didn't see any visible mold or anything like that.

The bathrooms were hit and miss in terms of grossness levels, but that was usually because I was unlucky going in during the morning rush, which isn't totally the hostel's cleaning staff's fault. If I woke before the rush, the toilets were SUPER clean, I think it's just more of a luck of the draw in terms of other guests' cleanliness habits. The showers were all clean.

I can't comment on the dorm room cleanliness, but our twin room was really clean when we arrived and the linens were also clean. I was leery to believe that they'd be clean, so I packed my own towel, but I ended up using the provided one because it was actually clean and I didn't want to worry about packing a wet towel at the end of my trip.

There's a small vanity and stool in the corner.

The one thing that reallllyyy sealed the deal for us choosing the private twin room was that it had its own AIR CONDITIONER, a definite plus.

On the wall next to each bed, there's a small cabinet that has a small light and an outlet. Make sure to switch the outlet "on."

This is the info on the room card. It says that the towel rental is $2 per towel, but I didn't pay for my towels/linens. I think it was included with the private room rental, but don't quote me on that.

There is free wifi and it's pretty fast.

This is the breakfast room/lounge area. There's a "breakfast" provided every morning, but it's pretty much just toast and jam, but I think they also had yogurt or fruit on a couple days. There's a coffee/tea machine and also instant coffee.

This is a SUPER good location. There are plenty of food and drink options within walking distance. It's pretty centrally located and the transportation from the airport is quick and painless.

It's literally RIGHT on the riverfront, so if you have big suitcases I could imagine it being a pain to get there since the taxis cannot access the entrance (you have to go down a staircase).
